Inner Service as Faithful Love
3 John 1:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 3 John 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse commends Beloved for faithfully serving both the brethren and strangers, showing love in action as a reflection of inner fidelity.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, when John says you do faithfully whatsoever you do to the brethren and to strangers, he points you to the state behind the action. In Neville’s sense, your outer service is the visible movement of an inner consciousness. The brethren and the strangers are scenes within your own mind—representations of love, obligation, and the unknown parts of yourself. To act faithfully is to sustain the cadence of love within the I AM; every kind word and helping hand is the current of awareness returning to its source. If fear or separation appears, revise by dwelling in the conviction that you are the I AM in action, that service to others is service to self and to the divine within you. Keep your inner weather steady in love, and you will notice a more harmonious outward field as proof of your faithful inner state.
Practice This Now
Assume the state 'I am faithful service' and feel it now. Picture yourself serving both brethren and strangers with love, and carry that feeling into your next interaction.
