Neville's Inner Vision
To the contemplative reader, these lines are not a travel itinerary but a map of the mind. 'Do thy diligence to come before winter' signals a discipline: do not let the imagined winter—the chill of fear, delay, or separation—cut off your contact with the inner life that makes all things possible. The names Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren are inner dispositions and states greeting you as you turn within. When you say 'The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit' and 'Grace be with you,' you are naming a felt reality already resident in your I AM. The Christ, not as a distant person but as your awakened awareness, stands with your spirit, saturating it with grace. The 'brethren' gathered in the verse announce the unity of your inner community, a harmony that does not wait for external events but is summoned by your inner act of assumption. Your present moment is the winterless season you choose by inward faith; you are being invited to dwell in the divine company that forbids fear and multiplies grace.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine the scene: Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren greet you in the inner converse. Then affirm, 'The Lord Jesus Christ is with my spirit; grace is with me,' and feel that presence as your immediate reality.
