Inner Covenant of Strength
2 Timothy 4:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Timothy 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul describes being deserted by all at his first defense, yet the Lord stands with him and strengthens him so the gospel might reach all. He trusts that God will deliver him from evil and preserve him for the heavenly kingdom.
Neville's Inner Vision
Neville would say the first answer and all men forsook me are not about outer people, but about states of consciousness that withdraw your attention from the present I AM. The Lord who stood with me is your own inner awareness, the I AM that fortifies your imagination. When you feel abandoned, imagine the inner witness lifting you, strong, calm, centered, so that your preaching (your message to life) can go forth unimpeded to every listener your mind claims. The mouth of the lion represents fear-made-appearance; not a literal threat, but the suggestion that you are cut off. Yet the lion cannot devour a being who knows the truth of the Lord within, for the divine Presence will deliver you from every evil thought and preserve your inward kingdom. The heavenly kingdom is not somewhere else; it is your state of consciousness secured by the Lord's fidelity. This is faith as awareness, not inert hope: a knowing that you are protected, guided, and released into your true work.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In quiet, assume the I AM is with you now; repeat the assurance until the feeling of abandonment dissolves and your inner kingdom feels real.
