The Inner Lure of the World
2 Timothy 4:10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Demas forsakes Paul because he loved the present world, choosing Thessalonica. The verse highlights the pull of worldly attachments and how they can derail a higher mission.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the seeker, Demas is not a distant figure but a state of consciousness within. He embodies the part of your mind captivated by the glitter of this present world, forgetting the living reality that you are the I AM, the witness of all images. When you identify with wealth, ease, or status, you depart from your inner mission—the same impulse that drew Crescens and Titus away in the record. The remedy is not condemnation but revision through imagination. See that the world is a pattern of thoughts you have entertained; your anchor remains the I AM, not the appearance. By assuming the feeling of one who remains with Paul in prison—present, unmoved, faithful—you reverse the movement. The one who forsakes becomes, in your revision, a dream dissolving into the light of consciousness. Practice envisioning yourself as the keeper of the inner command, someone who acts from inner love rather than outward recompense. In that inner state, the lure of wealth loses its voice and the inner kingdom takes precedence.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; I remain with the inner work, not the lure of the world.' Then feel that state as real for a minute, letting it settle into your chest and gut.
