Inner Vision Against Deception

2 Timothy 3:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Timothy 3 in context

Scripture Focus

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:6-7

Biblical Context

Deceivers slip into homes, captivate those pulled by sins and lusts, and keep people in endless learning without ever arriving at the truth.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine that these words describe not external persons but states of consciousness that enter your inner house. The 'creep into houses' are thoughts that insinuate themselves into your mind, claiming to bring knowledge, while they feed on your divers lusts—attachments, fears, cravings. The 'silly women' are your own innocent but pliable self-images, easily captured by such restless desires. 'Ever learning' is the mind that endlessly seeks conditions, books, opinions, and spiritual techniques from the world, yet remains ignorant of the truth because the truth is not outside but within the I AM you are aware of. The 'knowledge of the truth' is the immediate awareness of your true identity as God in expression; you need not chase it through outward learning. The remedy is to turn your attention from the moving pictures of the senses to the inner observer, to assume the state of the Truth: I AM. By consenting to this inner state, the infiltrators lose their power; your mind becomes quiet, and the truth reveals itself as your living reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative practice: Assume the state of I AM as the ruler of your inner house, and revise every creeping thought by repeating, 'I am Truth.' Feel the reality of that state as present now.
