Inner Vision of Selfish Times
2 Timothy 3:2-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Timothy 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage lists inner traits that surface when we live from self-love and appetite. It shows how outward trouble mirrors the inner state of consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the list not as a denunciation of others, but as a map of your own inner weather. The 'lovers of their own selves' are states of consciousness that cling to possession, image, and sensation; 'covetous' and 'boasters' are the thoughts and feelings that pretend security comes from things or applause. When you identify with these narratives, you separate yourself from the I AM that is always aware, and you experience life as fear-driven scarcity. The God in you is not external but your own I AM, the steady witness who can revise any scene by assuming a higher self. To heal is to recognize these traits as shifts in consciousness, not people to condemn. By imagined fidelity to a perfected self—one who is grateful, obedient to the inner law, and free from petty cravings—you rewrite the script. Despisers of what is good, traitors, heady, highminded: these are the loud terms of a mind convinced it knows better than God. When you dwell in the present quiet of your true I AM, you choose holiness, generosity, and self-control, and the world shifts to reflect that inward state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the I AM state as your true self now. Revise any craving by affirming, 'I am free; I choose holiness, obedience, and gratitude,' until this inward state feels real.
