2 Timothy 3:2-3

Biblical Context

The verses describe people who prioritize self and outward gain, displaying arrogance, disobedience, and unkindness. These traits point to inner states rather than distant history.

Neville's Inner Vision

These lines are not a ledger of distant characters, but a map of the inner weather of consciousness. The so-called lovers of themselves arise when attention fixates on personal lack and gain; covetousness blossoms from the belief that fulfillment lies in possession. Boasters and the proud reveal the ego's loud theatre, while disobedience to parents symbolises ignoring inner guidance—the I AM within. Unthankfulness and unholiness signal a yawning gap between the sacred within and daily life. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, and despisers of those that are good all describe mental dispositions that harden the heart and turn life into a quarrel of appearances. Neville teaches that such traits are states of consciousness, and by assuming a new inner state—one governed by the I AM and the law of love—the outer world rearranges itself to reflect that transformation. The kingdom is within; the imagination is the workshop of reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and revise one trait by declaring, 'I AM the awareness that loves and serves all.' Rest in that state until it colors your thoughts and actions.
