Gentle Servant Awakening Truth

2 Timothy 2:24-26 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Timothy 2 in context

Scripture Focus

24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Timothy 2:24-26

Biblical Context

The servant of the Lord must not strive; he should be gentle, patient, and apt to teach. He meekly informs those who oppose themselves, trusting God to grant repentance and freedom from the snares of the devil.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this passage, the 'servant of the Lord' is your inner teacher—the I AM you are becoming conscious of. Strife is not outer conflict but a restless mind resisting truth. Gentleness, readiness to teach, and patience are the disciplined states of consciousness that refuse to react to appearances and invite truth to take root. Those who oppose themselves are thoughts and beliefs that have not yielded to the light of awareness. When it says God may grant repentance, understand repentance as a turning of attention—a shift in imagination toward what is true. With meekness, the ego’s snares—felt as separation or contention—loosen their grip. People do not change by fighting them; they awaken by aligning with truth in your own imagination. Thus, they may recover themselves from the snare of the devil simply by choosing to inhabit the healed state within and to embody the truth you seek.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume the posture of the I AM—gentle, patient, teaching yourself toward truth. Revise any belief about others as adversaries by affirming your healed, enlightened state, and feel the repentance as a turning of attention toward the truth, dissolving the snare.
