Quieting Inner Strife
2 Timothy 2:23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Timothy 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse says to avoid foolish, unlearned questions because they generate strife. It points you to discernment and truth over trivial contention.
Neville's Inner Vision
Behold, the words do not condemn others for asking, but invite you to examine the inner questioner. If you want to inhabit wisdom, realize that the 'foolish' questions are but a projection from a restless mind seeking proof or victory. You are not arguing with your neighbor; you are aligning your own inner state. When you permit a question to roam with no edifying aim, you feed strife in the imagination. Instead, assume the quiet I AM that already knows what truly matters: what elevates faith, patience, and unity. In this light, the mind discerns by its own consistency; unnecessary debates become light that dissolves in a larger truth. The inner scene is your real stage; the outer dispute is only a shadow of a neglected inner conviction. So choose to raise your inner policy to one of discernment, pruning away contention, and letting your awareness rest in the peaceful certainty that your awareness is the source of all transformation. By shifting to an inner state that does not crave victory, you render the outward strife moot, and your life reflects the harmony of the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In your next conversation, pause before the question. Revise it inwardly to 'What edifies and unites?' and feel the I AM confirming this shift as real.
