Feast At The King's Table

2 Samuel 9:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 9 in context

Scripture Focus

9Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.
10Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.
2 Samuel 9:9-11

Biblical Context

David grants Mephibosheth all Saul's property and commands Ziba to till the land for him, so he will be fed. The king also declares Mephibosheth will eat at the table as one of the royal sons.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice how the scene turns on a decree spoken by the king who stands for your I AM, your central awareness. Mephibosheth represents the part of you that has been crippled by past limitations, the forgotten seed within. By calling him to the table, David names your rightful heirship and invites every scattered sensation to sit into the fullness of consciousness. The land tilled by Ziba’s sons and servants mirrors the daily labor of thoughts and habits—you provide sustenance for your inner heir, making room for the settled sense of self who eats bread at the king's table, i.e., at the level of awareness itself. The grace is not earned, but decreed by the I AM: a covenant loyalty that favors the whole lineage of your being. When you assume this, you heal separation, you extend mercy to the parts that felt neglected, and you establish a new standard of abundance within. Your inner king’s table is set; you eat with dignity as a son or daughter of the central I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume the state of Mephibosheth for a moment: imagine receiving all that Saul's house represents, and sit at the king's table in your awareness. Then revise any lingering lack by declaring, 'I am fed by the King; I am the king's son/daughter in mind.'
