The Inner Table of Grace

2 Samuel 9:10-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 9 in context

Scripture Focus

10Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.
12And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.
13So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.
2 Samuel 9:10-13

Biblical Context

David restores Mephibosheth to a place at the king's table, ensuring his sustenance and belonging. The arrangement signals that identity and abundance flow from the king's mercy.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, the king's table is not a banquet in time but a state of consciousness. Mephibosheth is the wounded, forgotten part of you, welcomed by grace into the royal circle. The king’s command that the land be tilled and fruit brought forth is your disciplined thoughts and feelings set to work to sustain this new sense of being. When the king declares Mephibosheth shall eat at my table as one of the king's sons, he states a truth you can choose now: you are already fed, protected, and exalted in awareness. Mephibosheth dwelling in Jerusalem symbolizes living from a united Self, where every servant and helper serves the new you who rests at the table. Your covenant loyalty is not earned; it is the recognition that you are included in the I AM’s bounty. Imagination creates reality, so you can revise your story from lack to abundance by assuming the consciousness that you belong at the king's table. Your old self serves the new, but the feast is yours in the present moment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine yourself seated at the king's table, nourished by the I AM. Silently declare, 'I am already fed; I dwell in grace; I belong here,' and let that feeling realign your sense of self.
