Inner Shields of Gold

2 Samuel 8:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 8 in context

Scripture Focus

7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
2 Samuel 8:7

Biblical Context

David took the shields of gold from Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.

Neville's Inner Vision

David’s act is not a history lesson but a parable for consciousness. The shields of gold symbolize your inner faculties—protection, resourcefulness, and authority—that you draw into the center of awareness. Hadadezer and his servants are the outward forms of fear, limitation, and the old kingdom clinging to you. By taking those gold shields and bringing them to Jerusalem, David is rewriting the inner map: wealth and might are not scattered across rival realms but claimed within the I AM, the constant awareness through which all images flow. Jerusalem stands for your present consciousness; when you bring the symbols of conquest into it, you authorize a new rule—one where abundance is a creation of your imagination, not a gift from without. The world’s trophies rise as you believe you stand as the I AM, and the boundary between enemy and acquisition dissolves into your inner sovereignty. So, you are invited to look at every apparent outer wealth as a sign that your inner state has shifted.

Practice This Now

Assume you are David now—call to mind the shields of gold already in your life as your inner defenses. Feel them brought to your Jerusalem, the center of awareness, and dwell there long enough to feel abundance and authority rising from within.
