The Inner Ark of Worship

2 Samuel 6:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 6 in context

Scripture Focus

5And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
2 Samuel 6:5-6

Biblical Context

David and Israel celebrate before the LORD with musical instruments; at Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah touches the ark to steady it and dies.

Neville's Inner Vision

See the ark as the I AM within you, the center of awareness. The music and procession symbolize the many faculties joyfully engaged in reverence when aligned with inner truth. The oxen carrying the ark represent life moving with faith when guided by inner law. Uzzah’s hand to steady the ark is the impulse to fix the outer sign—an act born of fear and control. When the ground shakes, the inner law requires you relinquish the urge to manipulate the visible symbol and instead yield to the inward movement. The consequence—death to attachment—signals that holiness is not in outward pomp but in obedient trust in the I AM. The lesson: true worship harmonizes with inner alignment; otherwise, the effort to stabilize the external can disrupt the divine rhythm. If you dwell in the inner state, the outward signs will align naturally. Your role is to remain receptive to the inner movement and let the I AM carry you rather than your own grip on the scene.

Practice This Now

Imitate the scene in your mind: assume you are the ark carried by the I AM within. When a situation presses to steady the external, revise the impulse to fix it and feel-it-real that you are moved and guided from within by God.
