Inner Zion: The I Am Crown

2 Samuel 5:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 5 in context

Scripture Focus

7Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
8And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
2 Samuel 5:7-8

Biblical Context

David takes Zion, the stronghold, symbolizing your inner kingdom of awareness; the city of David is your heart’s temple. The passage invites you to conquer inner disbelief and claim sovereignty through the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, Zion is the stronghold of your true I AM. David’s ascent is not history; it is your present state of consciousness claiming dominion over doubt and limitation. The gutter is the doorway through which you cross by conscious assumption, turning what you see with ordinary senses into imagined reality. The Jebusites, the lame and the blind, are the stubborn habits and feeble beliefs you have hated in the past; yet in the moment you refuse to concede to them, you elevate a captain from within—your renewed awareness. The house is the temple of your inner life; the 'blind and the lame' were kept out by fear, but as you awaken, your consciousness moves them aside. Your inner city, the city of David, is now governed by the I AM. You become the chief and captain of your life by aligning to the conviction that you are already crowned, and the house you enter is the sanctuary of present awareness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume, with felt certainty, 'I AM the King of Zion in me now.' See yourself crossing the gutter of doubt and entering the sanctuary of your inner life as sovereign.
