David's Inner Kingship

2 Samuel 5:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 5 in context

Scripture Focus

2Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
2 Samuel 5:2-3

Biblical Context

In 2 Samuel 5:2–3, the elders recognize David's royal leadership; the LORD declares David will feed and lead Israel, and the people anoint him king at Hebron.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner theater of your mind, the past speaking of Saul fades as you acknowledge a new state of consciousness. The verse shows the I AM being crowned within; the LORD’s voice is your own inner sense of purpose, naming you captain over your inner Israel. The elders are the gathered faculties—wisdom, will, faith—coming together in Hebron, the space of communion. As they anoint the king, you align your sense of self with divine legitimacy: you are not searching for approval but affirming the I AM as king, the one who feeds and leads your inner nation. The true kingdom is not a distant city but your present awareness acting in harmony with covenant loyalty to God in you. When you believe the I AM has crowned you, you become the living proof of the Kingdom of God within, manifesting in choices, vocations, and leadership in your inner and outer world.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and feel the I AM crowned as king within you; invite your inner elders to Hebron and sense their seal of approval, then dwell in the sensation of ruling over your inner Israel.
