Inner Kingship of David

2 Samuel 5:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 5 in context

Scripture Focus

1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
2 Samuel 5:1-2

Biblical Context

All Israel comes to David in Hebron, acknowledging him as their leader; God had spoken that David would feed and captain Israel.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your inner theatre, the tribes are your beliefs gathered around the I AM. David is the crowned will that accepts responsibility; Hebron is the fixed point of awareness where you acknowledge your true identity. When you hear 'we are thy bone and thy flesh,' understand that your faculties are kin to the ruling self and inseparable from the I AM. 'Thou shalt feed my people Israel' means you nourish the inner life—your loves, loyalties, and talents that constitute your Israel. 'Thou shalt be a captain over Israel' means you govern those faculties with discipline, purpose, and compassion. The LORD's decree to David is your inner command: you shall rule from the I AM, and imagination is the causal power. See your present circumstances as echoes of this inner order; revise any lack by feeling it real that you are already king of your inner nation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the king who feeds and leads my inner Israel.' Visualize the tribes bowing to you in Hebron, and feel the authority of your inner sovereignty as you breathe.
