Building The Inner Altar
2 Samuel 24:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 24 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Gad comes to David and instructs him to build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah.
Neville's Inner Vision
Gad’s command is not about geography but about your inner dwelling. The altar is a state of awareness you consciously erect within the terrain of your mind. When you hear, 'Go up,' you are invited to rise in consciousness above reaction and fear, to choose a fixed point where God—the I AM—resides. The threshing floor, Araunah's place, is the space where you separate the wheat of truth from the chaff of illusions, where your old stories are weighed and found wanting. Rebuilding the altar is an act of intentional worship: you acknowledge that reality flows from your inner assumption, not from outward circumstance. Sacrifice becomes parting with a belief that you are divided from God; true worship is alignment with the Presence that you already are. As you imagine this, the external scene in your life begins to reconfigure to reflect your inner arrangement. The divine presence is not distant but within your consciousness, awaiting your invitation.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine you are David on Araunah's threshing floor; see yourself building the altar in inner space, and offer the sacrifice of old beliefs until you feel the Presence of God within.
