Adullam Mindset: Inner Shelter
2 Samuel 23:13-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David hides in the cave of Adullam while the Philistines encamp nearby. Three of the thirty chiefs come to him during harvest.
Neville's Inner Vision
David's cave is the quiet center of your consciousness where you are safe in the I AM that you are. The harvest time signifies outward activity, the valley of Rephaim the pressures that would push you into fear. The garrison of the Philistines in Bethlehem is not a distant army but the residuary beliefs of lack that cling to your thoughts. David, in a hold, a stronghold, represents your steadfast awareness, an inner fortress that refuses to be moved by appearances. The three of the thirty chief who come to him symbolize trusted facets of your being that draw near to strengthen your vision in the hour of danger. When you accept in imagination that this inner stronghold governs events, the outer conditions no longer dictate your mood; Providence solves, guides, and orders according to your consciousness. The Kingdom of God, then, is not a place but a living awareness that you awaken within. You act from this inner authorization, and the world rearranges itself to fit your proclaimed reality.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, place your hand on your chest, and assume, 'I am in a cave of Adullam, safe, guided, and in control.' Feel the fear melt as you rest in the I AM that governs.
