The Inner Rock and Salvation
2 Samuel 22:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 22 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David proclaims the Lord as his rock, fortress, and deliverer, trusting in God's salvation and choosing to call on Him with praise for protection from his enemies.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the verse as a map of consciousness. David’s cry is not merely outward reliance on a distant power, but an inner acknowledgment that the I AM, God within, is the unshakable rock of your being. Fortitude and protection arise from your awareness, the fortress where fear cannot enter. When you feel pressed by Saul-like voices or violence of circumstance, remember that the horn of salvation is not a weapon but your own decisive imagination, which prompts relief, restoration, and safe passage through any assault. The God of my rock is your own sentience; in him you trust, for faith is an inner posture that refuses chaos. He is your shield and high tower—symbols of an undisturbed vantage point from which you view your situation as already transformed. The word 'saviour' points to the immediate result of your inner alignment: you are saved when you hold the vision of order and peace. So you call on the Lord, you praise, and you stand as if the victory is already yours, for in your inner keeping you are saved from your enemies.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, adopt the posture of one who is already delivered, and silently declare, 'The LORD is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.' Then feel the relief as if the victory is present now, and persist in calling on the I AM until fear dissolves.
