2 Samuel 2:17

Biblical Context

The verse recounts a fierce battle in which Abner and the Israelite forces are defeated by David's servants.

Neville's Inner Vision

On that day a very sore battle unfolded, and Abner and the men of Israel were beaten by the servants of David. In the inner sense, this is the moment when your old self—fear, pride, attachment to external power—yields before the faithful servants of your true ruler, the I AM within. The 'Servants of David' are your higher faculties—discernment, courage, loyalty to truth—that align with your rightful king, the awareness that you are already king in the Kingdom of God. The defeat of Abner shows that the ego's imagined power cannot stand against the inner authority of consciousness. The suffering and the trial are movements of energy toward unity, not punishments. Let this be your reminder: when conflict rises, the day’s battle is the inner struggle through which the inner David asserts itself and clears the way for your desired life by assuming the state of kingship here and now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are the I AM king within. Feel the old authority bow to your inner throne and declare, I am the King now.
