Inner Kingdom Anointing

2 Samuel 2:1-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 2 in context

Scripture Focus

1And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
2So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
3And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
4And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.
5And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have shewed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
6And now the LORD shew kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
7Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
2 Samuel 2:1-7

Biblical Context

David seeks divine guidance and is directed to Hebron, where he is anointed king over Judah; he honors Saul’s memory and receives kindness in return.

Neville's Inner Vision

David’s ascent mirrors your own inner ascent. The LORD’s question becomes the I AM asking what inner state to inhabit next; Hebron is the appointed state of conscious security where you rest in God. The anointing by Judah signals that your higher faculties—courage, discernment, mercy—recognize you as king over your inner realm. Jabeshgilead’s burial of Saul represents mercy toward the old self, a gentle release that lets the new self rule. When the Lord promises kindness and truth, you are reminded that your inward kingship rests on fidelity within, not external force. The injunction to strengthen your hands and be valiant is a call to keep faith and energy active in the inner work, especially as the old order dissolves. Thus the Kingdom of God is established in your awareness here and now, by the I AM elevating your consciousness to a sovereign, compassionate reign.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are king over your inner Judah now. Feel Hebron as the center of consciousness; picture a coronation of your higher self and receive the kindness of the old self as a released burden. Carry that energy forward today.
