Crossing Jordan, Inner Blessing
2 Samuel 19:37-39 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 19 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David blesses Barzillai and grants Chimham passage with him. Chimham goes over with the king, while Barzillai returns to his own place.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine the inner king within you as David—the I AM in your consciousness. Barzillai represents mercy, wisdom, and the old self you gently release; Chimham is a new energy or quality you want to accompany your higher self into a fresh chapter. The Jordan crossing is the threshold into a higher state of awareness. When the king declares, 'Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee,' it affirms that this new energy is welcomed and protected by your higher self. The pledge, 'whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee,' becomes your personal vow to support the new energy through action aligned with inner intention. The kiss to Barzillai and the old one's return signify mercy released and a settled inner peace, indicating the old life may rest while the new remains actively realized in your consciousness. In this shift, all thoughts and faculties that travel with you are seen as traits crossing Jordan into manifestation.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and visualize yourself as the king inside. Bless and release the old self (Barzillai) to return home, then invite Chimham to accompany you across Jordan; declare, 'whatever you require of me, I will do for thee,' and feel the new energy taking its rightful place in your life.
