Scripture Focus

5And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.
6And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
2 Samuel 15:5-6

Biblical Context

Absalom greets those who come to the king with a kiss, winning their favor and turning their loyalties toward him. The passage shows how outward affection can sway people and shape perception of leadership.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville Goddard's view, the scene is a symbol of inner state becoming outward form. The king's sovereignty is a state of consciousness, and Absalom's kiss is the outward sign of an inner posture that says, I am the ruler within. When a person comes near to do homage, the extended hand and the kiss reflect a deep sense of recognition and belonging in the field of awareness. The people respond not to cleverness alone but to the tone of the inner presence—the feeling that leadership is already established in the I AM that you are. To wield similar influence, you must cultivate within the inner king the feeling of rightful rule, so that every gesture—greeting, attention, acknowledgment—becomes a kiss of alignment that resonates with others. The Kingdom of God, then, is not a distant event but your immediate inner state, mirrored in the outer world as harmony and loyalty. Judgment and accountability arise from knowing you are the source of the inner posture that draws hearts to you, not from external manipulation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: In your next encounter, assume the feeling that you already stand as inner authority; greet with sincere attention and imagine the other’s heart opening to your leadership.
