Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, 'Absalom' is the restless image of self-will rising against your true government. The 'spies' are scattered thoughts that go about the body of your mind, whispering that another throne is possible. The trumpet sound is a cue in your imagination that tells you to acknowledge a 'reign' other than the I AM. The two hundred called from Jerusalem are your ordinary habits—comfortably unaware—moving out of the city of your present awareness to lend their support to the counterfeit crown. Ahithophel, the trusted counsellor, represents the old belief systems that praise cunning strategy over faith. As the conspiracy grows, the people increase, symbolizing how readily a mental image is accepted when fed by fear or longing. Neville's path is to recognize that this entire drama is a scene in consciousness—an inner state that can be revised. When you hear the trumpet, you choose to irrevocably declare that your true reign—the I AM within—remains sovereign. You revise the scene by returning your attention to stillness, affirming 'I reign now' and letting the counterfeit ambitions dissolve in the light of awareness.
Practice This Now
Practice: when a rebellious thought arises, imagine the heart center as Hebron and declare 'I reign now.' Feel the truth of this new reign as you breathe.
