The Inner Heir

2 Samuel 14:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 14 in context

Scripture Focus

7And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
2 Samuel 14:7

Biblical Context

The passage portrays a household plotting to kill the heir, threatening to erase the family line and leave the husband with no name or legacy.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this verse, the outward rebellion is only a reflection of inner states seeking to end your desired state. The family rising against the handmaid is the crowd of doubts and circumstances that pretend to quench the ember of your life—the coal that keeps your name and future alive. The cry to 'destroy the heir' mirrors the thought that your state might be eliminated by external conditions. Neville's path says: your I AM is the creator; imagine the end as already real and rest in that feeling until it becomes fact. When you claim the I AM as the owner of your future, the threats dissolve, because nothing outside can redraw the inner picture that you have accepted as true. The inheritance you fear to lose is simply the degree of consciousness you presently allow; therefore, keep faith with the ember, and the earth will reflect your inner triumph.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, imagine the ember in your chest as if your desire already exists, and declare quietly, I am the heir now; dwell there until it feels real.
