Chamber of Appetite and Truth
2 Samuel 13:8-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Tamar brings flour and cakes to her brother Amnon's house. Amnon sends everyone out and asks Tamar to bring the meat into the chamber.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, see Tamar as the higher self awaiting nourishment by truth; see Amnon as a lower appetite that would feed itself in secret. In the Neville teaching, the outer scene is a mirror of your inner state. The act of inviting food into a private chamber is the mind’s move to take nourishment away from the light—this you can revise. The way out is to assume you are the I AM, the hungry self now satisfied by a vision of dignity and purity. Practice: in your imagination, place Tamar in your chamber and feed her with wholesome, noble thoughts; declare that you, not appetite, govern your interior nourishment. Feel the peace as if the entire scene has shifted to mutual respect, and that the 'meat' represents the bread of understanding you provide to your life. This is not denial of outer events but transformation of inner states that produce them. You are Imago Dei; let the I AM be the nourishment that fills every room of your life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, imagine Tamar as your higher self, and feed her with thoughts of integrity and respect. Then declare that you, the I AM, govern your inner chamber.
