Righteousness Reclaimed in 2 Peter

2 Peter 2:21-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Peter 2 in context

Scripture Focus

21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
2 Peter 2:21-22

Biblical Context

Those who knew the way of righteousness and turn away show that inner states determine outward acts; the text warns that turning from the holy commandment is a costly reversion. The dog and the sow images illustrate habitual mind-trends resurfacing when inner alignment is neglected.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Peter, the outward act is but a symbol of an interior state. When a man who has known the way of righteousness returns to the mire, he has not escaped the law; he has forgotten who he is. Your God is the I AM you are aware of; the holy commandment is the living invitation within. The dog and the sow are not punishments but invitations to observe your states: you cannot be both the watcher and the wandered mind, yet you can identify with the former and revise the latter. The moment you realize the inner law has always been there, you stop seeking without and you stop doubting the commandment you already obey. Obedience is a consciousness act, not a list of deeds; holiness is a continuous awareness which cannot be broken. The judgment described is simply the natural result of ignoring your inner state and pretending you are separate from it. Return, therefore, to the one I AM within; be faithful to the inner word, and you will find the outer form aligns with it.

Practice This Now

Assume the unshaken I AM within now; feel the living commandment as your present reality, and silently revise any memory of turning away by declaring I am always faithful to the inner righteousness.
