The Illusion Of Liberty
2 Peter 2:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Biblical Context
2 Peter 2:18-19 warns that grand, flattering words appeal to fleshly desires, drawing those who thought they were free back into error. It shows that true bondage comes when a person is overcome by vice, even as they promise liberty.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider these talkers as states of mind, not distant men. The swelling words are the ego's glamour, designed to stir the passions and lure the clean escapees back into error. They promise liberty to the outer man, yet their own being is enslaved to corruption; the moment you are pulled by appetite or fear, you have yielded to a counterfeit power. In truth, liberty is an inner dominion won by recognizing your I AM, the steady awareness that creates and governs your world. When you observe the scene and do not react, you are choosing freedom; when you revise the belief that fulfillment comes from outward indulgence, you repair the inner theater. The bondage described is the natural consequence of believing in separation from your divine self. Therefore, awaken to the fact that you are always free in the I AM; the outside scene cannot touch your inner state unless you concede it.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and breathe as you state: I AM free now; I no longer yield to any promise that lures me from my inner state. Revise the scene by declaring: 'Liberty is my own inner I AM; all apparent bondage fades as I feel it real within.'
