Read 2 Kings 9 in context

Scripture Focus

1And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:
2And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;
3Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.
2 Kings 9:1-3

Biblical Context

Elisha sends a prophet’s servant to Ramoth-gilead to anoint Jehu king over Israel by pouring oil on his head. The act designates him apart and marks a divine appointment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jehu's rise is not about a fleshly king in history but a state of awareness disclosed by Elisha to the inner observer. The box of oil is the imaginal faculty ready to pour the sense of I AM over the head of your present identity. As you anoint this inner self, you declare, Thus saith the LORD, I have crowned you king over your Israel - your kingdom of mind. The inner chamber is the quiet space where you withdraw from the crowd of outward senses and listen to the still whisper of God within. The door left open after the ceremony is your willingness to move from the old self into the new state, to govern your thoughts and actions from this new kingly center. Remember: the world you experience is the memory of your consciousness. Envision and feel convincingly that you are already crowned, and your outer life will realign to reflect that inner reign.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, imagine pouring oil on your head and affirm, I am king over my mind. Move in your day as the ruler you have declared.
