Biblical Context
Elisha faces a plotted threat as the king's messenger comes to kill him. He sits with the elders, instructs to shut the door, and declares that this evil is of the LORD, asking why he should wait for the LORD any longer.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me the scene is not a political crisis but a revelation of consciousness. The king’s messenger, the door, the words spoken in fear—these are outer images that reflect an inner movement: the belief that life hinges on some external act. Elisha, remaining in the house with the elders, is the vibration of a state of awareness that does not yield to the outer sound but keeps the inner door shut to fear. When he says this evil is of the LORD, he is pointing to the truth that all appearances are drawn into form by the mind’s current state; the so-called danger is simply a vibration the I AM permits to arise to reveal what is already true: you are not subject to chance, you are governed by divine law. The question, what should I wait for the LORD any longer, is an invitation to stop waiting for a sign and to embody the already-given solution in consciousness. If I assume the I AM as my present reality, the messenger dissolves and the outcome becomes inevitable.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as your present reality and feel it real for a few minutes; silently revise any outward threat as divine instruction toward trust.
