Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Three kings face a crisis; one seeks a prophet to enquire of the LORD, and Elisha is found to speak the LORD’s word.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice how the king’s lament gives way to a choosing moment: the three kings are states of consciousness in you—alarm, longing, and seeking. The king of Israel’s cry Alas! signals the mind clinging to outer circumstance. Jehoshaphat’s question Is there not here a prophet of the LORD? reveals the inner hunger for the living word, the I AM that knows what is true now. The servant pointing to Elisha, the one who poured water on Elijah’s hands, suggests the inner image that serves the higher mind is present, ready to be invoked. When Jehoshaphat declares The word of the LORD is with him, you are told that the answer resides in your own awareness, not in chance. Going down to Elisha marks the inward movement toward the source of guidance; the crisis is not defeated by force but clarified by brought-into-attention awareness. Your practice is to acknowledge that the LORD’s word is with you here and now, and to invite that word to speak through your circumstances.
Practice This Now
Imagination Act: Close your eyes and affirm that the LORD’s word is with you now; feel the certainty until it becomes your lived awareness. Then imagine stepping toward Elisha and hearing a clear, practical guidance.
