Inner Temple Cleansing
2 Kings 23:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Kings 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse depicts a king tearing down the houses of the sodomites beside the LORD's house, symbolizing the cleansing of corrupt worship and the preparation of a holy space.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your temple is not a brick but a state of awareness. The houses of the sodomites are the patterns of desire and false worship you tolerate in the mind as you approach the inner sanctuary. The act of breaking them down is a decision to claim sovereignty over your inner space, to sever the link between glamour and idol, and to stand in the presence of I AM. The hangings woven for the grove symbolize outward adornments—the rituals, excuses, and justifications by which you keep a grove of separation rather than in the unity of true worship. When you refuse these, you reveal the true worship: a conscious awareness that you are the I AM and the author of your life. As you insist upon this inward truth, the inner city is cleansed; the outer life rearranges to reflect this inner revision. God is not distant; He is your awareness. Cleansing is revising belief by feeling it real: you are the temple and the temple is pure when you choose to no longer entertain idolatry.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine tearing down the inner houses of idol worship near your temple; declare I AM sovereign of this sanctuary and revise any lingering attachments to false worship. Feel the purity of your inner space rising as true worship takes root.
