Purging Idols Within

2 Kings 23:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Kings 23 in context

Scripture Focus

5And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
2 Kings 23:5

Biblical Context

Josiah removes the idolatrous priests and their incense rituals across Judah and Jerusalem, clearing away Baal and the host of heaven.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this verse, the priests, altars, and constellations of worship are not distant places but states of consciousness. The king who acts is not a man merely, but the I AM within you who decides what your heart will serve. When Josiah 'puts down' the idolatrous priests and their flames, you are being invited to discontinue the habitual worship of fear, habit, and limitation. Baal, the sun, the moon, and the host of heaven symbolize the outer images by which you have judged yourself and your world. By abolishing these external priests, you begin to exercise a discipline of inner obedience: you no longer feed the dream of separation but choose the one consciousness that animates all. The action is inward: you shift your allegiance from the many idols of lack and doubt to the singular I AM who endures beyond time. As you stand in that awareness, the temple of your mind becomes tranquil and inviolate; the visible world rearranges to reflect your new worship.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and stand at the inner altar. Say, 'I AM, I purge all idols now' and feel the new alignment.
