Biblical Context
Josiah removes familiar spirits, wizards, images, and idols from Judah to fulfill the law written in the temple. He stands as a king who turns the whole heart, soul, and might toward the LORD, unlike any before him.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the 'idols' and the familiar spirits are the images you have allowed to govern your inner Judah—fear, desire, and identity that say I am this. Josiah's act of cleansing is the birth of a new state of consciousness: the I AM turning away from all abominations and lawlessly created images toward the one living Law in Moses' book—your true nature. When you accept the Book Hilkiah found as the inner law written in the temple of your heart, you begin to purge the scenes your imagination has rehearsed. Like Josiah, you turn to the LORD with all your heart, soul, and might, which means you align feeling and imagination with a single purpose: the realization of the inward Lord. The external purification mirrors the inner revision: as you revise your inner state to match the truth of your divine nature, there arises no other king but the I AM in command. Thus the inner sanctuary becomes holy, and your life reflects that radiant monarchy.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state of Josiah—being wholly turned to the LORD. Then revise any lingering image of lack or fear by seating the I AM on the throne of your heart and feeling it as your only ruler.
