Biblical Context
Elijah asks Elisha to remain in Jericho as they journey; Elisha chooses to stay with him. The prophets of Jericho warn that Elijah will be taken away, and Elisha confirms he knows this and asks for quiet while they proceed.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Jericho of your mind, Elijah represents a higher state of awareness moving toward a new location in consciousness. Elisha’s steadfast vow to remain signals the inner practice of not abandoning the recognitions and calls of consciousness even as external signs announce change. The phrase that the LORD has sent me to Jericho is the inward directive—to move toward a threshold where transformation becomes possible. Yet the real movement is not away from the Master within, but an intensified fidelity to the I AM that stands behind all appearances. The sons of the prophets who speak of departure are inner voices of doubt or memory; your job is to listen without letting fear loosen your hold on the inward master. The invitation is to let the old form depart while you remain aware, intact, and present as the I AM. When you hold this stance, the departure of the old self becomes the birth of a newly defined sense of self and purpose.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare that you will not leave the inner master; remain steadfast with the I AM as the Jericho of your consciousness is reached. Then revise any scene of loss by affirming the departure as a reshaping of awareness into a truer present.
