Bethel Path of Presence
2 Kings 2:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Kings 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Elijah tells Elisha to stay, but Elisha insists on staying with him; they go to Bethel where prophets anticipate Elijah's departure, and Elijah confirms he knows it, while the others keep quiet.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the outer events mirror an inner decision. Elijah represents a higher state of consciousness moving to Bethel, the inner temple where the I AM dwells. Elisha's steadfast 'As the LORD liveth, I will not leave thee' is your affirmative stance that your present awareness will not abandon the shift you desire. The journey to Bethel is your inner path; the 'sons of the prophets' are the petty doubts and forecasts of loss that arise as an old state is summoned to depart. Their prophecy that the master will be taken away is simply the psychological weather of the moment, not a fact in your reality. In Neville's terms, the truth is that you have already assumed the new state in your imagination; the leaving of Elijah reflects the fading of an old consciousness. By refusing to be moved by outer chatter, you maintain the inner anchor. The moment you dwell in the conviction 'I am' with the master present, the change is complete in awareness, and outward signs follow as the echo.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already standing in Bethel, the inner house of God; feel the I AM with you as you affirm, 'As the LORD liveth, I will not leave thee,' until that assurance becomes your felt reality.
