Inner Fire and True Worship
2 Kings 17:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Kings 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
They sacrificed their children to fire and practiced divination and enchantments. They sold themselves to evil, provoking the LORD's anger.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville's awakening, the verse speaks not of distant nations but of states of your own consciousness. The 'fire' they pass through is the furnace of fear, the 'sons and daughters' representing future-beliefs you hand over to the dream of separation. 'Divination and enchantments' are the tricks of mind that seek evidence from signs outside the I AM rather than from inner knowing. When you 'sell yourself to do evil,' you surrender to the belief that life is ruled by external powers and appetites, thereby provoking anger in the LORD—the consciousness of the One I AM within you. The true worship is not ritual but alignment: standing in the awareness that you are the I AM, your decisions and feelings reflect that reality. The judgment in the text is the natural consequence of living as if separated from that unity. This is a call to return to the inner king who rules by love and attention. So revise fear, replace external signs with inner certainty, and let the I AM govern what you experience.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; this awareness governs my life.' Revise any fear or reliance on signs outside, and feel the truth of unity with God flooding your being.
