2 Kings 16:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Kings 16 in context

Scripture Focus

7So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
8And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
9And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
2 Kings 16:7-9

Biblical Context

Ahaz seeks help from Tiglath-pileser, offering temple treasures to secure protection from Syria and Israel. His outward alliance seems to work at first, yet it reveals a reliance on external power rather than inner provision.

Neville's Inner Vision

Observe how the king Ahaz turns from the inner sense of I AM to a throne of outward alliances. He proclaims I am thy servant and thy son, and trusts wealth from the Temple to a foreign power. In this, the people of the inner nation cling to external protection, imagining that salvation comes by silver and gold rather than by the inexhaustible life within. Yet the true ruler is the interior king, the I AM that knows you are already provided for. The story invites you to reverse this posture: not to beg for deliverance through symbols of power, but to align your entire being with the conviction that your supply is inner and constant. When you accept that you are the Lord's heir and that your world is shaped by your inner state, you will see outer events respond to your new assumption. The moment of revision shifts how you feel, and the outer army recedes into the background of your awareness as the sanctuary within asserts itself.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In quiet, assume the feeling I AM is the only power; revise any dependence on outer forces, and imagine the inner temple supplying every need.
