Inner Succession of Kings
2 Kings 16:19-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage notes the final deeds of Ahaz, his death, and the succession of Hezekiah.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Ahaz as a state of consciousness that has overruled the inner kingdom with fear, compromise, and outward acts. The verse locates the end of that state, the burial of its memory in the city of David—your innermost center—while Hezekiah, the rightful ruler, takes the throne. The 'book of the chronicles' is the inner record you are writing with your attention; what you continue to recount in your mind keeps that state alive. But now you stand at the moment of succession: you are the I Am, the awareness that can re-write the script. The past is not a prison, but a record awaiting revision. When you acknowledge that Ahaz’s acts are complete and allow Hezekiah to reign, you align with divine order within. Your present decision to rule from the city of David is your practice of faith: you choose a new inner governance that corresponds to unity and accountability. The outer events then reflect that change.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine the inner city of David; see Hezekiah ascend the throne and declare that the old acts are finished. Feel it real that your inner center (city of David) affirms a new governance—let the old self sleep with his fathers and awaken the I AM as your king.
