Biblical Context
2 Kings 11:3 describes a young king hidden in the LORD's temple for six years while Athaliah rules the land. It signals a period of inner preservation and preparation within the mind's sanctuary before rightful authority emerges.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this verse, the true king lies hidden in the LORD’s house while Athaliah's outward reign plays itself out. Psychologically, the house of the LORD is the mind’s sanctuary—the I AM that knows itself and cannot be disturbed by passing appearances. The 'he' who is with her in the LORD’s house is the inner ruler preserved in consciousness, waiting for the moment when belief and form align. Athaliah represents the old order of fear and control that seems to govern the surface of life, yet it cannot reach the inner king who rests in the temple. Six years denotes a long season of inner preparation, a quiet accumulation of power in the subconscious through faithful attention to reality as it is in the I AM. In Neville's terms, the king is already there in the inner kingdom; the outer kingdom's drama simply marks a time of gestation before the crown is visible. The practice is to treat the temple as real estate of consciousness, to dwell in the awareness that I AM is sovereign, and to let imagination work as the builder of form. When you keep faith with that inner throne, the rightful reign must express itself in due season.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and affirm, I AM the king within the house of the LORD. See the inner temple secure and rule your life from that throne, as if the reign has already begun.
