2 Kings 11:12-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Kings 11 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage depicts the king being proclaimed, the crown placed, and the people rejoicing, followed by Athaliah’s fear-driven cry of Treason.
Neville's Inner Vision
Look within: the king's crown is your assumption that the I AM is present as your governing principle. The crowd cheering God save the king is the inner conviction declaring that your true Self rules this scene. Athaliah represents the old, fear-based thoughts that cry Treason when a new ruling consciousness arises. She hurries toward the temple, but the king stands by a pillar—the pillar signifying unwavering awareness that remains firm regardless of noise. The nobles and trumpeters are the rising thoughts that herald your established dominion, and all the people who rejoice reflect the harmony of your mind when alignment is restored. Your Kingdom of God is not a distant realm but the present state of consciousness in which you are crowned by awareness and testified to by your inner witness. True worship is this quiet recognition of God as your I AM and allowing that awareness to reign here and now. Practice daily: dwell in that awareness, attend to the inner testimony, and when outer voices shout otherwise, return to the pillar and renew your proclamation.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and imagine the crown already on your head and the throne of your I AM established. Say God save the king within, and if doubt arises, picture Athaliah retreating and return to the pillar of awareness.
