Decisive Inner Cleansing
2 Kings 10:24-26 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Kings 10 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jehu orders the slaughter of Baal worshippers and the removal and burning of Baal images inside the temple of Baal.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville’s view, the text becomes a map of inner conquest. Baal symbolizes any counterfeit god or belief that makes you mistake a created image for the living I AM. Jehu’s command to the guard and captains mirrors the moment when consciousness declares, “I am the sole ruler of my mind.” The “fourscore men” without represent the faculties of perception, will, imagination, and memory obeying a single, sovereign awareness. The moment the burnt offerings end, the inner decree is spoken: let no lingering image survive. This is not vindictiveness but the discipline of truth taking control of the temple. The cleansing is interior: images, once burned, need no physical destruction to vanish from your inner sight. The life-for-the-life covenant points to identifying with the true self and letting go of the old self’s fear-based dependencies. When you align with the I AM, the inner Baal is exposed, and its idols dissolve, leaving a temple fit for divine activity rather than ritual illusion.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, I AM the I AM; I appoint my inner guard to banish every idol of lack or fear. See the images in my mind’s temple burn away, and feel the true power of Godward awareness rising.
