Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jehu gathers the people, proclaims that Baal will be served, and summons all Baal worshippers to a grand assembly, intending to destroy the false worship.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within every soul, Jehu is the I AM, the sovereign power you awaken. Ahab worships Baal a little; you will serve him much when you identify with a limited image. The call to all the prophets and priests of Baal is your invitation to every belief and urge that supports the idol to reveal itself to awareness. The great sacrifice to Baal is the price you are willing to pay by letting go of attachment to the image, allowing it to be seen as mere imagination. Jehu did it in subtilty, a careful inner strategy to destroy the worshippers of Baal—the habits, stories, and rituals you mistake for reality. Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal; gather the whole belief system in your mind. And they come, the worshippers fill the inner temple, exposing the extent to which you have given power to an idol. Then, when the crowd stands exposed, you dissolve them by recognizing that the I AM alone is real and that imagination can be rearranged to reveal truth.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the role of Jehu, ruler of your inner kingdom. Call all inner beliefs that serve the idol to a single assembly, then feel their power dissolve as you affirm I AM is the only reality.
