The Inner Word Unveiled
2 Kings 1:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A king seeks guidance from Baalzebub, an external god; Elijah's word declares there is no such god to consult in Israel, and the king dies as foretold, with Jehoram taking the throne.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your inner ruler seeks Baalzebub for counsel, a symbol of leaning on an outer image rather than the I AM within. Elijah’s word is the immutable law that speaks from the throne of your mind: there is no other god to inquire of in the kingdom of consciousness when you listen to the Word within. The king’s death is the natural consequence of substituting a phantom idol for the living Presence; the old order cannot pass forward, so a successor arises in the next state of awareness—Jehoram—when your allegiance returns to the one Spirit. The absence of a son signals that the old line cannot carry forward; a new line will appear only when you allow the inner Word to reign. This is the spiritual law: your outer circumstances reflect your inner devotion. If you remember the I AM as the sole oracle, the prophetic word becomes your own inner hearing, guiding choices and dissolving the idol’s power. The return to the inner Word births a faithful reign within, and you discover that all kingdoms are but states of consciousness you awaken to by faith in the Word within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit in quiet and declare, 'There is no god but the I AM within me.' Revise external advice by stating, 'From this moment I enquire of the I AM within.' Then feel the Word as reality and sense a new inner king rising.
