Abiding in Christ's Doctrine

2 John 1:9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 John 1 in context

Scripture Focus

9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2 John 1:9

Biblical Context

The verse teaches that those who transgress and do not stay in the doctrine of Christ do not have God, while those who abide in it possess the Father and the Son.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's view, this verse is a statement about inner states rather than external rules. God is the I AM within you, and the 'doctrine of Christ' is the living alignment with that I AM. When you drift from the inner truth—away from the awareness that you are one with the Father and the Son—you separate yourself from God; you feel distance because your consciousness has wandered. Abiding in Christ's doctrine means remaining in the inner covenant, preserving the conviction that the Father and the Son are already present as your own being. Transgression is simply a temporary forgetting, a shift of attention from your true state. To return is to revise your sense of self back into the unity of God. When you uphold that inner doctrine, you 'have' God: you affirm the presence of the Father and the Son within, and your life begins to reflect that harmonious reality. The verse thus becomes a guide to inner consistency and the practical demonstration of divine unity in daily experience.

Practice This Now

Assume the sentence, 'I am abiding in the doctrine of Christ now,' and feel the Father and the Son within your chest as a continuous, quiet presence. Each breath reinforces this inner state.
