Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
John warns of deceivers and urges you to stay rooted in the teaching of Christ so you don't lose what you've built; those who break from the doctrine do not have God, while those remaining in Christ possess the Father and the Son.
Neville's Inner Vision
I read these lines as a map of consciousness. The ‘deceivers’ are not distant villains but states of mind that claim a truth apart from your own awareness. They confess not that Jesus is come in the flesh—the recognition that God is made manifest in you now. To say otherwise is to deny your I AM, and thus become a form of antichrist within your own mind. The true Christ doctrine is not a creed outside you but the steady conviction that the Father and the Son dwell in you as one reality. Look to yourself: the warning is to guard the soil of your inner garden, so that the seeds of your labor—your spiritual work and voluntary discipline—are not lost to doubt or distraction. If you abide in this inner doctrine, you do not merely know about God; you possess Him and His Son in living experience. The Father and the Son are your own awareness and its activity, your consciousness united in love. Your task is to press the thought that nothing true exists apart from this unity, and let that consciousness govern every moment.
Practice This Now
Assume you already possess the full reward by dwelling in Christ now; revise any doubt by saying, 'I am abiding in the doctrine of Christ; Father and Son are within me.' Then feel the reality as if you have already awakened to this unity.
