Inner Commandments of Love

2 John 1:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 John 1 in context

Scripture Focus

6And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2 John 1:6-7

Biblical Context

Love is shown by walking in the divine commandments; the beginning calls you to live by that inner law. There are many deceivers who do not acknowledge that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.

Neville's Inner Vision

Love, in this scripture, is not an external sentiment but a state of consciousness in which you walk in the immutable commandment that God is your I AM. To walk after his commandments is to live from the assumption that the divine idea is already present and active in you, from the beginning. When you imagine yourself abiding by that inner law, you fulfill love by constant fidelity to your own revealed state. The phrase 'as ye have heard from the beginning' points to the original act of imagination that created your world; return there now and dwell as if that commandment is your living atmosphere. The 'deceivers' are the restless thoughts that deny the Christ within—the belief that God is distant or that Jesus' presence is only historical. They are antichrists because they cut you off from your own incarnate awareness. Recognize that Christ is come in the flesh in you, as your present I AM. Embrace that fleshly manifestation by treating it as your immediate reality and watch how it alters your outer world.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the feeling, I am walking in the divine commandments now. Feel Christ as the fleshly awareness within me and let every deceptive thought dissolve in that present state.
