Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul notes that the Macedonian churches, in deep poverty, gave with abundant joy and willingness beyond their means, because they first gave themselves to the Lord. He then urges others to cultivate this grace of generosity as well.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, this is not about coins but about the inner state you inhabit. The Macedonians 'abounded in joy' in a great trial of affliction because they identified with the grace of God within; poverty was transmuted into the riches of liberality as they aligned their will with the I AM within. They gave themselves first to the Lord, then to the ministers of the saints—their external gift was the outward symbol of the inward surrender. When you look inward and realize you are the activity of God in form, you discover you can move through any appearance of lack by assuming the feeling of already having abundance. The phrase 'abound in this grace also' is a command to cultivate a generous state, not merely to perform a charitable act, but to dwell as the giver of life, the receiver and the giver together. Trust that your imagination can become the vessel through which divine supply flows. As you let this grace finish in you, you invite your inner faculties to complete the work in your life where needed.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling 'I am the generous I AM now.' Visualize yourself freely giving to those in need, and sense the inner abundance flowing through you as you bless others.
