Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul states that his writing was not for the wrongdoer or the sufferer, but to reveal his care for you in the sight of God. The verse points to motive as the inner measure that God esteems.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your verse reveals that the writer’s aim is not punishment but a demonstration of care as seen by God—namely, your own awareness. In the Neville vision, all events are states of consciousness: the letter, the offense, the audience, even the motive. When Paul says he wrote for your sake in the sight of God, he is naming a moment when your inner governor—your I AM—chooses to behold what is best, not what is owed or avenged. The only reality is the motive behind the act; once you align that motive with love, you enter the realm where God is present as your own awareness. The outer scene can be revised by the inner feeling: you can imagine that your care for another is already in progress, already seen by God, and therefore fully real in your own consciousness. Practice this by assuming, in effect, that you are governed by the truth that love is active through you now. When you live from that assumption, your relationships, and even the sense of past wrongs, shift to reflect that divine care.
Practice This Now
Assume the motive of pure care in the sight of God toward all involved. Feel that care as real in your heart now.
