Biblical Context
Godly sorrow leads to inner reform: it awakens carefulness, clears self, stirs indignation, fear, and fervent desire, and produces zeal and a clear alignment before God. Paul notes this inner change proves their integrity in the matter.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that what you call 'out there' is only a moving picture of your inner state. The godly sorrow Paul speaks of is the turning of consciousness toward a higher self—the I AM that you are. The carefulness you sense is the inner discipline of awareness refusing to accept a lesser story. The clearing of yourselves is a cleansing of beliefs, the erasing of guilt, the rearranging of your inner landscape to correspond to truth. Indignation and fear are the first signs of an awakened moral imagination—your inner guard dog alert to error. Vehement desire and zeal become your living energy, animating acts that express the higher state. The 'revenge' is simply the correction of misalignment, restoring harmony with your true identity. In this light, God is the I AM observing through you; the care for you in the sight of God is the divine pattern becoming real in you. Their comfort echoes in you as you claim this renewal, and Titus's joy is your own spirit refreshed by your manifestation.
Practice This Now
Imagination practice: Assume you have already cleared yourself and are now aligned with the true state of I AM. Feel it-real by reaffirming, 'I am clean in this matter; God looks on with favor.'
